Answer ONLY ONE QUESTION from the following two. 1. Describe the differences between a species fundamental and realised niche. Discuss, using examples or case studies that you know, the types of interspecific interactions that result in a species realised niche. 2. Describe the concept of trophic cascades and provide specific examples. Discuss their prevalence in different types of ecosystems, factors that influence their magnitude, and their implications for ecosystem functioning. MAXIMUM WORD COUNT: 1,000 words. If you write more than the permitted number of words, only the first 1,000 will be marked. The word count includes sub-headings and citations; it excludes tables, legends and references. I have chosen Question 2, as I believe it is a lot easier to answer, and have therefore only attached reading materials and lecture slides around that topic. However, if you wish to complete question 1, do please let me know as i have compiled separate reading materials around that topic too! If you have any questions, please let me know. Also, please do make use of the lecture slides too, as I believe it would very much aid your understanding around the topic, and you can also reference information from there. Instructions have been attached below, along with the reading materials you’ll be needing in order to complete the essay. Please pay careful attention to these specifications! p.s. I could only attach 4 references, so, as soon as you place a bid on the work, i’ll be sending the last 2 references over. All the best!
