Paper is written I just need it to be revised.
4 (of many) interpretations of the trial/martyrdom/death of Socrates
1) A religious possibility: Socrates is the secular counterpart of Jesus: the best, noblest, wisest is put to death – perhaps to better society through sacrifice2) A philosophical thought: the trial and death represent the hostility of the masses to philosophy and philosophers3) A political science perspective: the trial and death represent expression of the power of the state over an individual and his freedom of inquiry4) A sociologic perspective:  Socrates’ philosophy and actions are a mask for his defense of the aristocracy against Athenian democracy
So short summaries of the above:
1=Socrates is martyred for his purity/nobility
2=Socrates is hated for his intellect/pursuit if intellect
3=Socrates is seen as destruction of the free individual by the oppressive power of the state
4=Socrates is the masked defender of the aristocracy who came into conflict with a democratic govt.
